Hashtags aren’t just trendy labels — they’re how people on Instagram group themselves around topics, interests, events, and even problems they’re trying to solve.
That’s why this feature in ReachOwl matters. Instead of guessing who your audience is, you can now find and target people who’ve actually used a hashtag that matches what you offer. Whether you’re a small business, agency, or solo marketer, this helps you speak directly to people already engaged in a relevant conversation.
Here’s how to set up a hashtag-targeted campaign step by step.
Step 1: Find Your Hashtag
Go to Instagram and search for the hashtag you want to target. This should be something related to your offer, niche, or location.
Step 2: Copy the Hashtag URL
Click on the hashtag from the search results. Once the hashtag page loads, copy the full URL from your browser.
Step 3: Start a Hashtag Campaign in ReachOwl
Now, head over to your ReachOwl dashboard. Start a new campaign and choose:
“Instagram Get Post and Audiences Based on Hashtags.”
Step 4: Paste the Hashtag URL
Paste the Instagram hashtag URL you copied earlier into the field. Click Next to proceed.
Step 5: Choose Campaign Action
Now, pick what kind of action you want this campaign to do:
- Send a message sequence
- Send follow request
For this example, we’ll go with Send Message Sequence.
Step 6: Fill in Campaign Details
Give your campaign a clear and unique name — this helps later when you have several campaigns running.
Then, select the Instagram account you want to use for this campaign. ReachOwl supports multiple accounts, so choose the one that fits.
Click Next when done.
Step 7: Add Your Message Sequence
Now it’s time to write your actual messages. These are the DMs that ReachOwl will send to people using the hashtag.
Once you’ve added them, hit Save.
Step 8: Confirm Campaign
Click Start My Campaign to go live, or choose Create, but don’t run if you want to activate it later.
Step 9: Campaign Starts
Your campaign will begin scanning for hashtag users. It usually takes about 10 minutes to complete the audience scan.
Once live, you’re good to go.
Conclusion
Using hashtags for targeting isn’t just smarter — it’s way more relevant. Instead of reaching random profiles, you’re connecting with people who’ve already shown interest in your niche by using that tag.
Try it out, test different hashtags, and watch how much more precise your Instagram outreach becomes.
